Helping Young People Make Good Decisions
These programs develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors to nurture their well-being, set personal goals and grow into self-sufficient adults.
Garden Club
Age 6-12
Approximately 35 enthusiastic members participate in the Garden Club, led by Jim Lorenz of the Lowcountry Master Gardener Association.
Education is a major component of the Garden Club. Members study pH and fertilizer requirements through soil testing to learn about the nutrients in the soil. Members also learn about composting, germination, watering levels, sun positioning by season and how to revive plants from frost damage in their very own “plant hospital.”
Passport to Manhood
Age 11-18
Passport to Manhood teaches responsibility to boys ages 11 to 14 with sessions that focus on a specific aspect of character and manhood through highly interactive activities.
SMART Girls
Age 8 -17
SMART Girls provides health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement for girls ages 8 to 17.
Healthy Habits
Age 6 - 15
Healthy Habits emphasizes good nutrition, regular physical activity, and improved overall well-being.
