Helping Young People Make Good Decisions
These programs develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors to nurture their well-being, set personal goals and grow into self-sufficient adults.
Approximately 35 enthusiastic members participate in the Garden Club, led by Jim Lorenz of the Lowcountry Master Gardener Association.
Education is a major component of the Garden Club. Members study pH and fertilizer requirements through soil testing to learn about the nutrients in the soil. Members also learn about composting, germination, watering levels, sun positioning by season and how to revive plants from frost damage in their very own “plant hospital.”
